Narayan Prasad

The author, Narayan Prasad, is a retired engineer. Born on 15 April 1955, in the Nalanda district of Bihar, he received his education up to college level through the medium of Hindi and his technical education in the English medium. His mother tongue is Magahi.

He has published five books – (1) one English translation from Russian (“Sketches of Ceylon and India” published by Notion Press in April 2020) (2) four Magahi translations – one from Kannada and three from Russian classics of Fyodor Dostoevsky and Mikhail Lermontov. For the translation of Lermontov’s work “Geroy Nashego Vremeni” (A Hero of Our Time), he was awarded “Lermontov Medal” in 2019.

Considering the importance of Pushkin’s world famous novel  “The Captain’s Daughter” along with a novella and a collection of five stories. The Magahi translation of these works are being published for the first time.

He has already translated into Magahi many other Russian classics of various authors that await publication.

In addition to the above, the author has published more than 20 articles on Sanskrit grammar in various journals, and also articles on Hindu Astronomy etc.
