Dr. Samir Kumar Mandal

Samir Kumar Mandal born in 1980. He received Graduate and Post-Graduate degree from The University of Burdwan. He worked in Dabur Pharma Ltd. as a Trainee Chemist for a year where he had adequate experiences in GMP and cGMP practices of APIs. Then he joined the Prof. Subhas C. Roy’s laboratory at The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. His research field was synthetic development of some medicinally active chemicals mainly based on radical methodology. He had also developed a few green methodologies there. He received his Ph.D. in 2009. For further study, he did his Post-Doctoral Research in Prof. Barbara Zajc’s laboratory at the City College, City University of New York. There he got experiences with chemicals toxicology and medicinally important fluoro-organics synthesis. The field of fluorine chemistry had turned his mind to developed fluoro-pharmaceuticals. So he joined TCG Life Science Ltd. and got more experience of CRO based pharmaceuticals. From there he felt that preliminary knowledge of pharmaceuticals and their synthetic development under green protocol is important for beginners. He left the job and joined as Lecturer at the Prasannadeb Womens’ College, University of North Bengal. There he received the prestigious Young Scientist award along with independent research funding from DST-SERB and worked at the Department of Chemistry, Kalyani University. With the prior approval from DST-SERB, he transferred the project to Saldiha College to take the responsibility of teaching and research simultaneously. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor at Saldiha College, Bankura University. As an ardent nature, with his research he enjoys teaching Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Green Chemistry. He has published review articles, seminar books, proceedings and more than 20 research articles in different journals of National and International repute. He is serving as reviewer of National and International journals. He is a life-member of several scientific associations.
