Soumen Das is an Assistant Professor in the School of Media Science at Institute of Management Study, Kolkata. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the realm of academia, blending practical knowledge with academic insight. Holding a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication, a Master of Arts in English, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Disaster Management. Soumen’s academic journey reflects a deep commitment to understanding and shaping the ever-evolving media landscape. With 3 years of industry experience and 5 years in academia, Soumen seamlessly bridges the gap between theory and practice. Before joining the Institute of Management Study, he served as a Guest Lecturer at esteemed institutions such as iLead College, Kolkata. His dynamic teaching style and hands-on approach have inspired students across various platforms.

Soumen’s scholarly work has been featured in several peer-reviewed journals and book chapters with both national and international publishers. His research interests span Film Studies, Gender Studies and Digital Media, showcasing his commitment to exploring the complex intersections of media and society. Soumen was honoured with the Best Paper Presenter Award at an international conference—further testament to his excellence in research and presentation.

In addition to his academic achievements, Soumen is an accomplished filmmaker, with his films being officially selected and screened at national film festival in Mumbai. He is also actively engaged in the world of VFX Film Making, where his creative vision and technical expertise come together to push artistic boundaries and mentor the next generation of filmmakers and media professionals.
